I've been carving a lot lately, but neglecting to post. Here are some stamps from the last couple of weeks:

Hedgehog (not incredibly happy with his weird hair line, mostly because I could have so easily made this stamp better):

This is an image from Craphound that I've always loved. This stamp needed an ungodly amount of touching up, but I really dig it.
Tonight my stamp carving was too anxious to achieve much success, but I was happy with this sacred heart with scroll:
I also churned out two botched stamps, including a pill that could just as easily be a cigarette butt or toy bullet, and a bird with the worst kind of angles.
Lately I've become deeply entranced with invertebrates, an this feeling was intensified last night after spying a slug (or homeless snail) on a walk downtown.
That being said, I give you my highly inspired Sea Creature trio:
I had doodled this squid in my notebook about a month ago, and I think it translated nicely onto a stamp:
I went the less animated route with this jellyfish (don't try to deciper the tentacle paths if you want to enjoy it at all):
And finally, a Skulloctopus (straight from the pages of Craphound, surprise, surprise). This one had the potential to be a septopus because of my lame attempt to free-carve:
This is a hand carved stamp of one of my favorite images of all time. I found it in Craphound - and am considering getting it as a tattoo one day. It was a semi-challenging carve, especially around the shaded parts.

Being injured this weekend has let me to several stamp endeavors, this of which is the last. I really like how it turned out!
I made this for one of my best buddies! I hope he likes it!
It's a little sloppy because it was done under the influence of medication. Crafting is usually my remedy for a better life, but every so often, crafting alone can't make me feel better.

I have been smitten with stamp carving since I received a kit from someone in the Invite Your Partner Swap on Craftster. I had originally posted this tutorial on Craftster, but I figured I would post it here also, as many of the crafts I'll feature will be using this technique.
This process is called a cellulose transfer. It's an inexpensive way to print images on surfaces with things you probably have around the house.
Basic Ingredients:
BEFORE YOU START:
Put no more than a tablespoon of lacquer thinner into the container, use Q-tip to cover back of image while holding sturdy on notebook.
Peel back a small section to see how your transfer looks. Press again if the image hasn't completely transfered.
